A bike for me.

I think this is the bike I’ll be riding the most this summer.

I can run the fat front tire or a normal 29″ but the fat tire works so well for me that I’ll probably keep it on most of the time.

It’s under 26lbs as shown, without the bottle but with the crudcatcher and bottle cage. That’s not bad for an “all mountain/freeride/xc/trail” bike.

It looses about a pound with a 29″ front wheel.

Right now the bike has my 17-34t modified XT cassette on a King single speed hub. I’ll be switching out to a single cog sometime soon. I like the gears but I like the bike with just one gear too. This may be my SSWC bike.

I’m using a Rohloff chain guide that I modified . It’s light, simple and keeps the chain on the ring.

The tire clearance is good with a 2.55″ tire on a 35mm wide rim and it’s very good with anything smaller.

I’m testing a new carbon steerer tube is made by Edge composites. It saves 80 grams over the stock aluminum tube. They will be available soon as an option or upgrade.

Leaving out the top cap /compression plug saves more weight.

Here it is with the seat down for the descent.

Down to the bottom it goes.

 It’s a good one.

Put me down for one of those carbon steerer tubes! Are you going to be at Interbike? Cheers, Nik
