Boatman’s ride

Jeff has been riding his bike.

Cut from Jeff’s email with permission:

“I got out on a few multi-surface rides last week, and did some of my favorite high country singletrack trails this weekend. I’m loving the bike.

Everything is working out great. Your build is a work on art in itself. I love all the little details on the cable routing, etc.

If I was to try and sum up the handling in one word, it would be “intuitive”. I’m digging the short wheel base and tight handling, and found myself rolling through tight switchbacks with more ease than any other bike I’ve ridden. I was a little skeptical of the short top tube at first, but the position feels great. Without really thinking about it, I find myself choking up on the bars while riding the flats, and moving them back on then techy stuff. The bike rails in the tight and twisty, and the hand position simply feels more natural when quickly transferring my weight and carving through S turns.

I’m really looking forward to loading the bike up with my backcountry kit and heading out for some multi-day adventures. I did a ride last week from home, through town, and out to the trails. I was rolling through town and I got chased by a big jacked up pickup truck out towards the back roads. While that would normally be something to be concerned about, in this case I ended up getting flashed by a bunch of country girls, and got to see some well fed cow girl breasts…….that’s never happened to me before while riding, so it must be the new bike ;). Score one for the skinny white boys on bicycles.”
