I asked Paul to make this hub after seeing a 120mm dishless hub he made. This one has 135mm spacing, very wide flange spacing and builds up a very very stiff, strong and dishless front wheel.
Here it is laced up to a Speedway Cycles 26″ fat rim.
dishless. strong. stiff.
Here it is built into a 29″ wheel. More on this later.
It uses a normal rear QR
What frame and fork is that Jeff?
Steel Jones. Next post up.

How do you like the Speedway/Endomorph combination? I’d like to try a Surly tire on a very similar ZHI trials rim—any caveats?
I don’t know much about the ZHI rim but it works well on the 50mm wide rim here. The tire is even more stable on a wider rim. It looks like the ZHI is narrower so the tire will be less stable.
The ZHI are 48 mm wide. Thanks for the response…
How has that 50mm drilled rim held up? I have been advised to get the 70mm undrilled rim for dirt usage.
Have you tried wider rims than 50mm on your trails?
They have held up very well with the wide hub. My fat front wheels stay true. Wider rims make the tire more stable at low pressures but do add weight.
So you think that for non-abusive usage and my weight (165 lbs) a drilled rim is OK?
If you had it to do over again, would you go with the 70mm rims?
Have you tried a fat tire on the rear of the bike as well?
Are you making any steel fat bikes at the moment?
