Brief descriptions of Jones bikes that have gone to customers

Steel Jones

Steel makes sense. It’s a great material for bicycles.

The new steel Jones frame set has the same geometry and handling as the titanium versions.

With an EBB and removable derailleur hanger it can be built up with one speed, a few, many or Rohloff

The fork has very good tire clearance.

The short rear end has good […]

Wide front hub

I asked Paul to make this hub after seeing a 120mm dishless hub he made. This one has 135mm spacing, very wide flange spacing and builds up a very very stiff, strong and dishless front wheel.

Here it is laced up to a Speedway Cycles 26″ fat rim.

dishless. strong. stiff.

Here it is built into a 29″ wheel. More on this […]

up the mountain

I went for a ride up the mountain to see if the trails were clear of snow on one of the loops I like to do from the shop. Most of the ride is on dirt roads and then it ends with some very steep and rutted motorcycle trials. It’s a good ride with […]

Glass Bead Blasted Finish

This is the glass bead blasted finish option.

It’s not as shiny as the brushed finish but it does have a nice industrial look.

Rolling Chassis

This rolling chassis shipped out last week. The rear wheel is built with a King single speed hub and has my modified XT 17-34t 6 speed cassette. This makes for a strong rear wheel and easy conversion between a geared or single speed bike.

I really like this set up.

Equal spoke tension and good chainline.

 Just a […]

Rohloff equipped Jones

This is the first ‘Rohloff (or Singlespeed) frameset’ from the Merlin built batches. You can see the cable guides under the down tube. Guides are also under the left chainstay.

Actually, you can run a Rohloff hub on any Jones frameset with an eccentric bottom bracket if you don’t mind having zip ties all the […]

24 inch ETT Singlespeed

A 24″ SS frame set with (Jones modified XTR) cranks. The cranks and decals are installed and I’m just waiting here for a chain ring. Nothing missing, just nothing added. Singlespeed only :-)>

A little gold and some Crud Catcher mounts.

Drop bar build

I finished this build and took it out for a good test ride (every bike is then cleaned and re-tuned completely before being packed up for shipping). The ride went very well. It worked perfectly. I climbed from my shop up the mountain out of the dark and cold under the clouds, up to […]
