Riding Gravel Bikes with Different Tire Widths

I was digging through some old files and found these. My dad and I went on a ride to compare two “gravel bikes”. One thing to note is both bikes had the same G-ONE Speed tires, just different widths. After we noticed how low Emigrant lake (in Ashland Oregon) was, we pulled off to do some exploring. I found that the skinny tires worked fine on the road except for the hand numbing vibrations, but when we got into the softer sand and gravel I could barely pedal and getting started was nearly impossible. In one video you can see me bail over the handlebars because the front tire sunk into the sand. Of course, the Jones rolled right down that small decline with ease right before I crashed. In the other video, you can see the difference between the tire prints I tried to cross a small creek after my dad and the front tire immediately sunk in jolting me to a stop.
