What happened to the Jones 29?

One of the more common question questions we get is whether we are discontinuing the Jones 29 framesets.

The answer is no.

Jeff has updated his original short wheelbase bike, and with that update has come a name change, but the changes to the geometry are very minimal.  With an aim to clarify the changes to the bike, you’ll find a list of the differences between the Jones 29 and the Jones Plus SWB below.  The important thing to keep in mind is that apart from the differences explained below and a few very minor tubing variations, everything else is identical.  The fit, for instance, is exactly the same.  The Jones Plus SWB Geometry is also available in both Spaceframe and Diamond frame types, but as with the Jones 29 framesets, the geometry between the two frame types is identical.  The Jones Plus SWB really is simply the next generation of the original Jones 29 geometry for which Jeff is so well known.

The Jones Plus SWB geometry, shown here in a Steel Spaceframe configuration.  It looks a lot like the Jones 29 Steel Spaceframe shown above it because it is a lot like it!

For a complete breakdown of all of the details that have changed with this update, check out the chart below.  Through all of these small changes, Jeff has maintained the best of the Jones 29, while bringing the frameset up to date with his current thinking on bike design.
