Steel Jones with Steve Worland

Biff has been in touch, from the UK, to say that the steel diamond framed Jones bicycle (it featured in an earlier blog post) is now with Steve Worland for a What Mountain Bike Magazine test. Steve is a much respected cyclist and experienced journalist so it will be interesting to hear what he makes of it. He has previously tested a titanium Jones.

He has two fork options to try. The standard unicrown and the steel truss fork. And two front wheel options – the ‘normal’ 29er front wheel and a fat front wheel with a Fat Larry tire (just visible on the far right in the first picture above – I have them available and in stock and have been building up many front wheels to go with frame sets. The rim is single wall, 50 mm wide and weighs 660g. I’m sold out of the wider 72 mm wide (940g) version but will have more of them soon). Both front wheels are built on a Jones 135-F hub. The components are good, but not bling pimp crazy choices. The bike has an aluminum Loop H-bar for handling duties. I’ll report back when I hear from Steve.
