This is a bike I built in the Fall and have been riding this Summer. The frame fork and bar are 4130 chromoly.

More to come.

How does she ride compared to the Ti Spaceframe? the stem/bars look interesting too!

How do the stem/bar combo clamp onto the steerer?

Is it an all in one stem/bar/steerer? I’m guessing there is another clamp at the fork crown but can’t see from the photos.

    Great stuff as always Jeff.

oh, tell a lie. I can see the clamp on the big version of the 3rd photo.
Ingenious design. Might be a bit expensive when posting it though (due to the shape).

Tubes look a lot thinner than the Ti spaceframe…….how does the weight compsre? most importantly – what colour will it be 😉

The ride is very similar to the Ti version. The geometry is the same so the balance points and handling are the same. The bike just has a little more mass to it and it’s a little stiffer. I did use smaller tubes on this frame than on the Ti frame since steel is stiffer.

The H-Bar Loop is welded directly to the steel steerer and the star nut is in the bottom. Headset adjustment is done at the lower fork clamp.

I never painted this one. I just wanted to see how it would ride. Maybe I’ll paint it later. I’m riding the second one now and it’s black.

    Hi Jeff,

Say, which rims are you using on this bike?

    Thanks!

perhaps it would be a good idea if the steel frame comes without painting. so one can bring it to a powder coater around the corner an get his favorite color 🙂

The rims are from Speedway bikes in Alaska and are 55mm wide.

We will be getting a few frame sets without paint so they can be a custom powder coated.

Is it possible to get a little more detail about the 55mm rim? Is it a 29″?

It’s a single wall 50mm wide rim I have been testing. I’m also trying out a double wall version. Email or call me up for more info.
